Job Title: Building Secretary

Summary
Responsible for providing highly skilled confidential assistance to the Building Principal managing the day-to-day issues of the building, coordinating projects and procedures with staff, making routine work decisions performing a variety of duties requiring perceptive judgment and discretion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Provide clerical support to Building Principal, Director or Assistant Principal
- Respond to inquiries from the public, either in person or on the telephone
- Manage incoming/outgoing phone calls
- Type correspondence (letters, memos, notices) for supervisor
- Receptionist duties
- Provide appropriate contact with parents, students and outside agencies
- Type, file, copy and mail information
- Data entry and maintenance of student and teacher information
- Maintain records such as grades, attendance, incident reports, inventories, schedules, etc., in accordance with district policies and procedures
- Keep all office business confidential
- Collect, organize, disseminate information
- Assist building principal with duties in other areas as assigned
Supervisory Duties None
Qualifications Education/Experience High School Graduate or equivalent
Three years of clerical experience preferred
Must have working knowledge of office machines and excellent computer skills
Must pass a background check through the MO Highway Patrol
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None
Skills and Abilities An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
Read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals
Write simple and complex reports and correspondence
Speak with members of the public and other staff members
Computation Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages

Interpret instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Solve problems when such problems have a variety of concrete variables

Have strong computer skills including word processing, and working with spreadsheets and databases
Be able to understand and submit online reports to state and federal agencies
Have the ability to learn new systems and software

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use fingers and controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach and bend and lift and carry up to ten pounds. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.
Attendance Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
