Job Overview: Lafayette Academy seeks a Math Chairman for the 2025-2026 school year. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative mindset and a passion for creating a learning environment that encourages students to appreciate and embrace what is good, true, and beautiful.

Description

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Teach math courses in grades 7-12, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and Calculus.
  2. Provide interventions for students in grades K-12 as needed.
  3. Coach and mentor math teachers in grades K-12, offering support and professional development opportunities.
  4. Conduct formal observations for all math classes twice per year.
  5. Manage and inventory math curriculum materials, communicating ordering needs to the Curriculum Director.

Qualifications for the Ideal Math Chairman:

  1. Demonstrated appreciation for classical education principles and a focus on critical thinking and intellectual virtues.
  2. Previous exposure to classical education preferred, but not required (training provided).
  3. Experience in Teacher Coaching:
    1. Proven track record of coaching teachers and fostering their professional growth.
    2. Familiarity with Singapore Dimensions Math (K-7) and in-depth subject knowledge in math.
  4. Proficient in Student Assessment:
    1. Ability to effectively assess students and create tailored plans for those needing extra support.
  5. Motivated and Inspirational:
    1. Self-driven individual passionate about motivating students to achieve their full potential.
  6. Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills:
    1. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities to engage students, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate effectively with parents.
  7. Exemplary Character and Integrity:
    1. Demonstrates virtues of wisdom, humility, and responsibility in both professional and personal life.
  8. Alignment with School Values:
    1. Supports the school's mission of promoting academic excellence, virtue, and moral growth in students.
  9. Bachelor's degree in education or related field required, with a commitment to student success. Master's degree preferred. Training in classical education philosophy and pedagogy will be provided.
